Full Day: Sacred Islands & Wildlife

Embark on a morning boat trip on Lake Tana toward the eastern shore to visit Tana Qirqos Monastery. This sacred island is traditionally believed to have been a resting place for the Ark of the Covenant for several centuries and still houses ancient Judaic sacrificial stones. Next, visit Kibran Gabriel Monastery (open to men only), known for its impressive collection of ancient manuscripts and its beautiful stone architecture. The tour also includes a stop at the outlet of the Blue Nile River, where you can often see hippopotamus surfacing and various water birds, including pelicans and kingfishers. Return to Bahir Dar in the late afternoon.
